CASA COLLEAGUE Volunteer Opportunities
Special Events Volunteer
This position enables individuals, groups and families to assist CASA for Kids in staffing special events. These events include public awareness opportunities (such as festivals, fairs, or community awareness activities) as well as, specific fund raising events which are held throughout the year. Volunteers will be given options of shift times and responsibilities. Volunteers will be required to be prompt in arriving for their shifts to perform their assigned duties. Depending on the event, teens and families are welcome to volunteer.
Computer Specialist
As a computer specialist, duties may vary depending upon each candidates skill level, interests and time availability. If a volunteer is chosen to do data input after the initial interview, additional clearances may be required.
Fundraising Volunteer
As with all non profits, fund raising is an important element to enable CASA for Kids to continue its mission and help the organization grow. A fundraising volunteer helps in the execution and planning of CASA for Kids fundraising and community awareness events, as well as helping to solicit in-kind and monetary gifts. Help with identifying and making contact with potential donors will also be appreciated. Volunteers will be asked to help identify potential groups to contact regarding utilizing a CASA for Kids speaker at an upcoming event or meeting.
All volunteers are required to:
- Fill out an application form and return it to CASA for Kids.
- Give three non-family references for a reference check.
- Be interviewed by a staff member of CASA for Kids.
- Be on time for shifts/scheduled volunteer duties.
- Notify a CASA for Kids staff member as soon as possible if you are unable to make a shift.
Benefits of being a CASA for Kids Volunteer
- All volunteers will receive weekly updates regarding upcoming CASA events and activities.
- All volunteers are invited to join in monthly training sessions geared towards helping our child advocates fulfill their annual training requirements and giving them more skills to better advocate for their CASA child. These sessions however, typically focus on services available in our community that will enrich the personal knowledge of our volunteers as well as give them a knowledge of services available in our community.
- An invitation to an annual volunteer recognition event for all volunteers giving more than 20 hours of service per year.
