Children's Voice Award


Children's Voice Award is given to someone in the Washington County Court systems who has made a significant impact on the lives of children. This does not necessarily have to be an attorney or a judge, it could also be a provider or other person who works within the system to ensure a safe permanent home for children. 

Past recipients include:  

2010 -Frank Kocevar 
Washington County GAL (Guardian ad Litem) - an attorney appointed by the court to represent the best interest of the children. Frank has served as a GAL since 2002 
2011 - Judge Mark Mascara  
(awarded after his death to his wife) he was appointed the Washington County Juvenile Court Judge in January of 2006 and served in that capacity until his death in June of 2010.
2012 - Karen Hassinger 
a Washington County attorney who worked to establish the Washington County CASA program and has sat on our board since the inception of the program in 2001. She also served as the board treasurer for over 10 years. Karen has served as a parent attorney within the dependency court system.
2014 - Dennis Paluso  
an attorney who was appointed in January of 2006 to serve as the juvenile hearing master in Washington County. He retired from this position in December of 2013.
